Fully equipped and extremely comfy hotel, we appreciated this place.
We had the most very nice few days there. Fair value, room was newly renovated, staff were caring! Booked a room with the king bed. The attached restaurant for breakfast was the best part.

Was upgraded (after many issues in several rooms) to what was really a 5 star room. The original one was a 4 at best. Pool was nice. There is a Metro about 2 blocks away.
The location was fine since there was a Metro 2 blocks away, but as it is in the Financial District many places are closed on the weekends. There were plenty of places to eat though. It is also in a bit of a red light district so there are 'saunas' with 'hot girls' around (2 within 2 blocks that I saw). It wasnt an issue for me but I would like to have known ahead of time. There were issues with 4 rooms before I finally was able to get settled and moving that many times stinks (even into an upgraded room). Internet is free but you need a cable and they charge 7 euros for that.

It is my 10 th time staying at the melia castilla and it never fails to impress. As I was checking in I was welcomed by the manager and given an upgrade. When I requested a late check out I was given 4 pm straight away with no mystery or extra charges.the breakfast is excellent and there is choice for everyone. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to any travellers to madrid.

I liked the pool, quite a good size for swimming. Front desk staff was very helpful and efficient. Hotel is very clean not only the rooms but all over the building. A good number of Elevators makes the move very efficient and fast within the hotel.
The restaurant staff (waiters) should get more training concerning their attitude and efficiency.

The rooms were large and the breakfast was fabulous but expensive at 25euro each. There are two metro stations within a five minute walk. There are good local non touristy restaurants and wine bars nearby.
The swimming pool was freezing and the pool bar had a very limited range of drinks.

The hotel itself is a luxury hotel with good facilities, fantastic lobby good for business too, room was clean and confortable but old fashion and still with one of those enormous TV (you would expect a flat screen TV nowdays in a 5 star hotel!)
I got a good rate from Booked.net and once arrived I was subject to a sale pitch from the guy at the reception trying to convince me to take a more expensive upgrade (No good!!). I was then given a room that was clean and comfortable but the mini bar was half empty (unacceptable in a 5 star hotel!!!) in particular no water in it, the only thing I would have liked after a long trip. I have been in many 4 star hotels who give you a far better service!

Very happy with room, particuarly free room upgrade and late checkout. Room was huge, very comfortable beds, great shower etc - everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
We were disappointed with the price of the "extras" such as mini bar, laundry, on demand movies and room service. If the hotel charged more reasonable prices, we would have been happy to take advantage of these services, but we cannot justify 14 euros for a ham sandwhich or 6 euros for a can of coke. And the fact that the hotel does not offer free wi-fi is outrageous. We have travelled extensively through europe and this was the only hotel without free wi-fi. Inexcusable for a 5 star hotel to charge for wi-fi.

From the moment we arrived we were treated excellently. Check-in was easy, we were greeted by the duty manager who upgraded our rooms to premium. We didn't eat in the hotel, as we had booked room only, there is a breakfast bar just around the corner, and we had dinner in the city every evening. There was never a time when we had to wait on an elevator as there were 7 available. Rooms were large and very comfortable, we had an extra bed without an extra charge as we have 3 children. We were suprised to get this hotel for more or less the same price as an appartment for 5 people. It is close to the metro station, and a taxi ride into the city centre cost €11.30 from outside the door.
